A new band ‘steps on the scene’.
On the 12th of May, Holmfirth Folk Festival would enter a timewarp to the glory days with rock staples; while leading the way with faith as Jimmy and the Juveniles display their own writing talent. Arriving on the Glastonbury-esque stage just before two o’clock to an anticipated crowd, the concert plunges the audience into a tour de force.

The entire concert was a blur of rapid and energetic songs, consisting of a passionate pulsating drum beat that gradually peaks after leaving its stunning effect on the crowd with credits to Dylan Fraying. Who was deservingly applauded during the concert. To complement the drums, the rest of the band created a confident stage presence on behalf of their talent too. The notable Henry Nixon-Blackbrun provided a comforting bass, strengthening the bands backbone with his rhythmic plucking of strings that sent reverberations throughout the crowd. Echoing the bands genre as well, were the two guitarists Zane Halsal on rhythm guitar and Finn Riley on lead guitar. Both weaving their ways between the percussion carrying some of the most recognisable guitar riffs ever heard in music. United, the pair struck their plectrums to generate transmissions of textured tracks. Fronting the band, was the distinctive and dynamic vocalist Jimmy Moorhouse who’s vocals fit perfectly with the chosen bands. Resembling Kurt Cobain’s themes of social alienation his melody perfectly displayed the grit that singers convey. I have also had the chance to interview Jimmy about singing, inspirations and of course music:
What Made you want to become a singer?
I had been like most of my life with this theatre group called stage coach and I wanted to join a band.
Are you planning on pursuing music as a career?
I am, I would love to have a career revolving around music.
Favourite bands and inspirations?
Mötley Crüe, Metallica, Rage Against the Machine, theres loads but for inspiration on stage defiantly Jake Milburn from Deadwax and just Deadwax in general they are all so talented and have great stage presence so they are very engaging.
Favourite song to cover?
I don’t have a favourite song, I literally can’t decide. But favourite song to cover is probably Breed by Nirvana.
Best concert you’ve ever attended?
The Antarctic Monkeys (an Arctic Monkeys tribute band) at the Picturedrome with a friend and the gig was mental we were just flying about in the mosh pit with collage kids.
What would you say to someone wanting to start a band?
Find people who know what they are doing so don’t just learn an instrument and start playing with people, think about what sort of music you want to make and how serious you are about making it. Do it with friends but also try meet new people.
An enormous thank you to Jimmy and the Juveniles for sharing their incredible musical talent, and especially Jimmy Moorhouse for allowing me to interview him too. I wish you all the best of luck and hope to hear you all again soon.
