Welcome to The Northern Newsletter, a blog that is solely focused on sharing articles that I have written myself. All of the articles will be written from my perspective and fueled by my own individual opinion. Reader Meet Author

My name is Oliver Mellor and I am the establisher and journalist for The Northern Newsletter; I wish to write concise and informative articles regarding theatre, music and literature. Which I hope will allow you, the reader, to experience notable events that I have had the pleasure of attending and evidently sharing with you.

Journalism

Personally, I had previously resented the idea of endeavouring into the vast labyrinth of journalism. However, after attending a local club weekly my spark for writing articles has been ignited. Since then, I have had incredible experience of learning off other journalists.

Playwriting

I hope to pursue my passion of playwriting alongside journalism. My many successes from playwriting include having an extract from my own play ‘Monday Morning’ being performed to the public. I wish to enter the Bruntwood prize for playwriting this year.

Interests

Along with journalism and playwriting, I am also very passionate about music and literature. Especially, bands such as The Smiths and Joy Division; as well as solo artists such as Morrissey. My personal favourite pieces of literature are classics and vintage plays.
